Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and Enforcement Volunteers in Service to America (OSMRE/VISTAs) are college-educated men and women completing a year of national service in communities impacted by legacy mining.
THE MISSION OF OSMRE/VISTA IS TO SUPPORT RURAL MINING COMMUNITIES IN MAKING THEIR COMMUNITIES HEALTHIER PLACES TO LIVE AND WORK.
The Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and Enforcement (OSMRE)'s mission is to carry out the requirements of the Surface Mining Control and Reclamation Act (SMCRA) in cooperation with States and Tribes.
OSMRE/VISTAs serve as a part of BRIDGE Network, a program of Conservation Legacy.
Placed in their community for one full year, OSMRE/VISTAs serve to

- develop opportunities,
- grow support, and
- empower leaders.
